Customized pressure sensors for hydrostatic in shipbuilding
The application:
Ships need to sail safely over our oceans to deliver goods worldwide. As the tank’s load is always changing and the weather conditions influence the ship’s draft, there is the need to monitor the draft to conduct counter measures. Such counter measure could be to flood or blowed out the sea water ballast tanks on the ships ground.
The challenge:
- High risk of corrosion because of sea water
- The sensor or transducer housing should be designed accordingly for saltwater applications
- Precise measurement to conduct counter measures
Our solution:
For these applications, we offer ceramic pressure sensor or transducer modules. In ballast tanks the experience shows that fixed sensors are used, mounted on the tank wall as well as level sensors that are permanently installed in the tank.
The pressure sensor UTC30 has a robust ceramic membrane to withstand harsh conditions and offers different housing materials, as stainless steel 1.4404 (316L), 1.4539 (904L) or Titanium 3.7035 (e.g. for saltwater applications).
We as Endress+Hauser Sensors&Components focus our activities on partnership-based collaboration with customers. An interdisciplinary team from development, product management and sales handle implementing the users’ requirements in the best viable way.
